Marc Benjoya

Marc Benjoya is a partner in the firm's Chicago and Milwaukee offices and co-chair of the Medical Liability practice group. He has served as a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Marc focuses his practice on civil litigation and has extensive trial experience in complex cases involving professional negligence, product liability, commercial litigation, environmental/toxic tort, construction and municipal liability.

Marc has represented several Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical, automotive, environmental, petroleum, construction equipment and service industries. He has also been retained to represent physicians, hospitals and mid-size corporations in litigation in numerous jurisdictions including Illinois, Wisconsin, Nevada and California in both state and federal court. Marc has also served as national trial counsel to one of the largest aerial platform lift manufacturers in the country, representing them in both product liability and commercial litigation. Marc assists healthcare professionals and practice groups with employment issues and contracts, professional licensing issues, medical practice business issues and disputes, hospital credentialing and conflict resolution. Marc also serves as personal counsel in litigation matters.

Marc serves as an instructor and lecturer to attorneys, healthcare professionals, major healthcare institutions and professional liability carriers. The topics include trial litigation strategies, psychology of jury selection, combating the potential for catastrophic verdicts, cross examination of plaintiff expert witnesses, effective and innovative use of technology in the court room, diffusing the reptile argument and effective closing arguments in high exposure, high risk litigation. Marc has also contributed to literature for trial attorneys on effective jury selection techniques and strategies and witness preparation for trial.

Prior to joining Cassiday Schade, Marc was associated with G.D. Searle pharmaceutical company in their product liability litigation department and worked on CU-7 IUD litigation as well as other products and services. He also served a clerkship with Federal Court Justice Rozkowski of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois.

Marc is a member of several professional organizations including the Illinois State Bar Association, Wisconsin State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute (DRI), Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys. He frequently presents on issues of professional negligence/medical malpractice, risk management and trial strategies for physicians, insurers and hospitals.
