Rudolf G. Schade, Jr. is of counsel in the firm's Chicago office. He is one of the founding partners of Cassiday Schade and has served as a member of the Executive Committee. Rudy handles the preparation and trial of civil litigation, with an emphasis on healthcare matters. He has substantial experience in all areas of litigation, including appellate argument.
Rudy is a member of several professional healthcare organizations, and has served as a director and member of the following: Evangelical Health Systems (EHS Health Care as of April 1993), 1972-1981, 1983-1990; Chairman, 1975-1978; Advocate Health Care, 1995-2006; Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council of Chicago (MCHC), 1984-1990, Plymouth Place, Inc. 1984-1995 and the Council on Hospital Governance, Illinois Hospital Association, 1986-1989. He is actively involved in the community. Rudy has served as a trustee of Elmhurst College since 1996 and he served as a Director of the United Church of Christ Insurance Board from 2003 to 2012.
Rudy has also held leadership positions in several industry organizations including, President, Illinois Chapter for the American Board of Trial Advocates; Fellow, The American College of Trial Lawyers; Fellow, The International Society of Barristers; Director, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, 1974-1992; President, 1992-1993; past President and Director of the Trial Lawyers Club of Chicago (Director, 1976-1979; President, 1980-1981); and a past Director of the Society of Trial Lawyers (Director, 1986-1988). He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, served on the IADC Trial Academy in Boulder, Colorado in 1996 and has participated in ABOTA’s "Masters in Trial" programs in several states.
Rudy has contributed a number of articles the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is also an invited lecturer to various hospital groups and legal associations and has been an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School. Rudy is fluent in German.
