Michael J. Morrissey is a founding partner of the firm and has dedicated his career to the defense of complex medical malpractice cases, medical products cases and other high exposure cases. He was chosen by Chicago Lawyer as one of the “Top 20 Chicago Defense Lawyers” in 2003 and has been recognized by Super Lawyers as well as Law Bulletin Publishing Company as a Leading Lawyer in Medical Malpractice Defense Law.
Mr. Morrissey has tried cases involving almost every medical specialty and cases involving catastrophic damages, including birth injuries (both obstetrics and neonatology), neurosurgical, radiation oncology, ENT, critical care and orthopedics. In addition he has handled the defense of other professionals, including attorneys and architects.
Mr. Morrissey is a past president and board member of The Society of Trial Lawyers and was selected to author a chapter in Your Witness: Lessons on Cross-Examination and Life from Great Chicago Trial Lawyers published by Law Bulleting Publishing Company. The submission earned Mr. Morrissey honors by Green Bag in their recognition of Exemplary Legal Writing in 2009. He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and DePaul University Chicago Law School where he served as Case and Comments Editor of the DePaul Law Review.
Mr. Morrissey has represented numerous doctors and hospitals in the Chicagoland area, including medical equipment providers, orthopedic and cardiac implant makers. In his 35 years of practice, he has tried over 100 malpractice cases to verdict.
