Michael J. Morrissey, Managing Partner, was named an honoree by the Green Bag in their recognition of outstanding legal writing in 2009. The article, “Dead Men Sometimes Do Tell Tales” was originally published in the book Your Witness: Lessons on Cross-Examination and Life from Great Chicago Trial Lawyers published by Law Bulleting Publishing Company.
The Green Bag recognized 25 authors across seven categories. Honorees include Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Retired Justice David H. Souter of the United States Supreme Court; Elena Kagan, Solicitor General of the United States; Douglas T. Kendall, Founder & President, Constitutional Accountability Center; Annette Gordon-Reed, author and 2009 Pulitzer Prize in History recipient; and Frank H. Easterbrook, Chief Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit among others.
Recognized works will appear at least in part in the forthcoming 2010 edition of the Green Bag Almanac of Useful and Entertaining Tidbits for Lawyers for the Year to Come & Reader of Exemplary Legal Writing from the Year Just Passed.
The Green Bag is a quarterly journal dedicated to good writing about the law. The honorees for “Exemplary Legal Writing 2009” were selected by the journal’s special Board of Advisers on good legal writing, which includes distinguished members from the state and federal judiciaries, private law firms, the news media and academia.
