Practice Chair

Civil Rights Litigation and Correctional Healthcare

Our Civil Rights & Correctional Healthcare practice group is comprised of former Assistant Attorney Generals, Assistant State’s Attorneys, and skilled litigators with significant experience in medical malpractice, civil rights, and correctional healthcare defense work. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to the correctional healthcare industry and has successfully handled hundreds of cases to the overwhelming satisfaction of our clients.

We provide the highest quality, and cost effective, legal representation to our correctional healthcare employers and the doctors, nurses and various other healthcare providers they employ.  Because we are engaged in correctional healthcare litigation on a daily basis, we are constantly aware of trends, changes and developments in the law as they occur.

The vast majority of the correctional healthcare claims we defend are dismissed through dispositive motions, either through a motion to dismiss or through summary judgment. We understand and appreciate the “defend through trial” posture many of our clients require, and are willing to take any case through trial and to verdict.

Cassiday Schade’s Civil Rights & Correctional Healthcare practice group is known in the Chicago legal community, as well as throughout the state, as a leader in the defense of correctional healthcare corporations and their employees.  We are dedicated to the defense of our correctional healthcare clients and the unique issues they face in this volatile and transforming area of law.
